Boyd Exell

Based in Valkenswaard in the Netherlands, but hailing originally from Australia, Boyd is a professional carriage driver, instructor and trainer. He is the current and 6 times FEI World Champion for Four-In-Hand driving, and the current and 9 times FEI World Cup Indoor Driving Champion.

Fascinated by horses from the age of 6, Boyd’s path to international sporting greatness began when his school teacher, back in Australia introduced him to a carriage driving friend. Boyd’s passion for the sport was cemented when he went on to win the Australian Pairs Championship, aged 16.

Boyd’s competitive spirit has shaped the sportsman he has become today. Celebrated with a string of accolades including Reem Acra Best Athlete and Ariat International Athlete of the Year awards, Boyd has also been honoured with the Order of Australia Medal in recognition of his services to equestrian sport, in particular four-in-hand carriage driving.
